After much debate, the crew voted for heading to Muskegon to try for some perch. After the boat splashed down and got squared away in the slip, we headed out. It was just too nice not to try for salmonids so we set up and trolled out the channel. First pass out we pulled a nice 7-8# steelhead 20 down on a rigger on Northport Nailer's Dark Monkey Puke (22). Second pass we pull a little chubby brown on a Orange Ice Gold (41G) Nailer on a slide diver 40 back. Couple more passes, pull another brown on Mashed Banana (11) on the slide diver 32 back. Make an in sweep inside the arms and pull another brown on the same slide 32 back on Mashed Bannana (11). Then decide to pull the 3 color and change the bait and we pulled another brown and the dodger with a Fireworks HorseFly. Couple more passes and pull a real nice about 12# Laker off the same rigger 20 down with Dark Monkey Puke (22). The laker obviously went back unharmed. All that action was from about 3-4:30 then not another bite until 7 or so when we pulled lines. The Northport Nailers were working well today. Beautiful day to be out. The perch will have to wait for another day. Capt. Paul Kik Salmonhead Charter
