Made it for the fourth time in March this year. Two buddies jumped on and we trolled out the channel. We were greeted by 25 knot winds and 2-4 seas at the pier heads. We looped to the north to ride the waves and tucked in behind the piers. After making some loops, we caught a lake trout off the rigger with a Northport Nailer in Dark Monkey Puke (22) stretched back about 100'. That fish had the long distance release about 30 feet behind the boat, but we got a good look at it. Laker all the way. Immediatly after, we landed a brown on the 4 color on Northport Sunfire (69). Over the next 2 hours we pecked away and finished with a double on a steelhead and another laker. By the end, Sunfire (69)took 3 bites on the 4 color and 1 on the flat line with 1oz, Green Dolphin (14) took one on the 3 color, Dark Monkey (22) took one on the rigger, Superior Sunset (35) took one on the 2 color. Finishing 6 for 7, all bites on Northport Nailers. 4 browns and 1 steelhead went into the box, with one laker tossed and one long distance release laker. One brown went 11.5# and another went 9.5#. We ran several body baits and a couple flies with no luck. It was mostly sunny, rather windy with 2-4' waves from the South. Captain Paul Salmonhead Charters 616 299 1349
